Silicon Valley-based solar manufacturer, SunPower, has announced it has entered into an agreement with Italy’s Giulio Barbieri, to design and manufacture its new solar carport for the Italian residential market.

The Swedish evening news broadcast communicates with great enthusiasm the opening of a charging station for the car-sharing service promoted by the Japanese giant Nissan in the town of Helsinborg. The project sees the electric car Nissan Leaf together with the PV carport manufactured by the company Giulio Barbieri S.p.A., capable to charge electric vehicles through solar energy.

This initiative occurred in Ispra (Varese – Italy) at the IET, the Institute for Energy and Transport, a department created within the European Commission, whose activity is basically addressed to researching, developing, and sperimenting new solutions and applications in the sector of renewable energy and of the analysis of causes and effects of the climate change.
